Today I went to Taipei City.
An American asked me directions on the Nan-yang street. I was so excited and so nervous that my mouth became dry and couldn’t utter a word. Due to my capability of English conversation is poor, so I tried drawing a map for him. I think he can use my map as a useful guide.
I am happy for helping another person.

ISSUE:About a professor told us don’t use too many “Mar language” in examination or formal letter
Today a professor told us don’t use too many “Mar language” in examination or formal letter.
“Mar language” is a phenomenon, incompletely understood at best, in which young people develops a unique language with highly original marks in computer keyboards. Many people uses them due to they can save time of typing while talking with friends on internet. Meanwhile, many marks are looks interesting. Therefore, it is hard to prevent young people from using them in handwriting, I think.

Today I image my future.
Today I image my future.
It’s hard to predict what life will be like ten years from now, but I hope there will be good changes. I suppose I will own a big house and I will be running my own business. I will have a husband and children, and I will be taking long vacations every tear. I want to be a good wife. I want to support and take care of my family in every aspect.
In short, I hope have a fulfilling life.
I feel English is very difficult
Today C.
I started learning English when I was in my middle school years and we had only four hours of English each week. My English base is not firm. In next semester I will watch English films at home because I think that is the most natural way of learning English.
I know that learning English is a gradual process and I hope that my English is going to improve with my hard work.

ISSUE:About a report concerned with suguars
Today I know that most of the sugars we eat every day are imported from the other country.
According to a report, the reasons for the decline of Taiwan’s sugar industry in the past years were the high cost of land, the pressure of commercial development, and a marketing system based on importing produce from aboard. Therefore, the Taiwan Sugar Company has shifted its business from sugar production to land development, pork production and the other things. Maybe it has to change its name, too.

Today I receive a lot of junk mails
Today I receive a lot of junk mails.
E-mail has so become so popular and so easy that it has become a problem. The junk mail is the most obvious. We will receive hundreds of useless messages every week. And most of them may have computer virus. Deleting them need time for us.
Most junk mails are the ads of adult firms. I don’t know how the senders know my e-mail address. I hate them.
Whale Wars

- 1. International treaties have banned the hunting of whales for food because of declining whale populations world-wide. However, every year Japanese fishing craft hunt and kill thousands of whales near Antarctica in violation of international treaties. They are able to do this because the law allows hunting some whales for scientific research. The vessels call themselves “research vessels”, but others say they illegally hunt and sell whales for food.
Some environmentalists, enraged by the Japanese government’s hunting, decided to take matters into their own hands. They have bought boats and equipped them to scare whales away from hunters and forcefully challenge hunting boats. This results in frequent fighting and violent clashes between the two sides. Some people call these environmental activists terrorists. Some environmentalists call them heroes. The Japanese government calls them pirates. Both sides say that the law is on their side. How far is “too far” in defense of the environment and preventing the extinction of a species?
What do you think? Respond to this question is at least two well developed paragraphs.
- Answer:
- According to Wiki, the debates over whaling have focused on issues of sustainability and conservation as well as ownership and national sovereignty. Since the International Whaling Commision (IWC) 1986 moratorium on commercial whaling, the value of lethal sampling of whales for scientific research in order to establish catch quotas has also been debated. Someone see the value of whaling to fisheries as a method of controlling whales' perceived negative impact on fish stocks is another point of debate.
- I think the whaling is needed to be banned. Firstly, several whales’ species were severely endangered. Although IWC use the quota to limit the number of whale every country catch per year, many countries had been systematically underreporting the number of whales it took. Therefore, the declining of whales’ species may be serious than we know. Moreover, many goods from whale have better alternatives. It is unnecessary for the human being to kill whale. Thirdly, the distribution of quota is not totally fair for every country. Most of countries don’t satisfy their respective quota, so they may catch more whales to compensate the gap between the quota and real need. So IWC’s quota system cannot to save whale. Only complete stop of whaling can solve all above questions.
Response Questions
- Response Questions:
- 1. It’s quite easy to get an emotional response out of people when we talk about how animals are treated. This is also true of animal testing for medical research. However, many would say that animal testing has led to many medical breakthroughs that have dramatically reduced human suffering around the world. After reading the two articles above, what do you think about medical testing? Is it justified and necessary?
- Answer:
- I think animal testing is necessary for human. But I think the methods of animal medical testing have space to modify to decrease suffering and panic of those poor tested animals. In fact,I am not agree with kill animals just for testing for medical. Eventhoug animal testing for medical research is necessary. But I think that Animals are equal to human. They should be treated fairly. Although the great universe has the rule of existence. I still think human shouldn't deprive animals' lives. It is too cruel. We can find another methods to test for medical research. Mankind thus cleverness, I think and we can find a better method to do a test, not sacrifice the life of animal.
- 2. After browsing the list of “cruelty free” companies, are there any notable cosmetic companies missing from this list?
- Answer:
- Loreal and Maxfactor.
- 3. What do you think of animal testing on cosmetics? Does it matter to you what kind of animals are used (whether it’s mice, rabbits, dogs, primates, ect?). Remember that without animal testing, cosmetics may end up much more expensive and possibly have greater risk to humans.
- Answer:
- I think of animal testing on cosmetics is cruel. I like rabbits due to its cute. Therefore, I can not tolerate to see the people use rabbits as samples to test cosmetics. I support to end the animal testing on cosmetics.

Issue:About Organic Vegetables
Today I saw a doctor advocated the organic vegetables on TV news.
Pest control is important to agriculture, and the use of pesticides is an essential part of the pest control process. Pesticides are often abused or misused on farms, posing a threat a public health.
However, the vegetables free pesticides are more expensive than common vegetable on the market. Many people may not afford the higher price of organic vegetable. Furthermore, the production of organic vegetable is not enough for the demand in whole Taiwan. Therefore, agriculture and health authorities should act promptly to check the safety of common vegetable.
