Question 3: How are women portrayed in these situations?

Women were portrayed as beautiful women in television shows. Sometimes, they are beautiful, have qualities and gentleness. And sometimes they are cute or sexy. If a woman is a model, she will be portrayed as a beautiful woman or a sexy woman. For example, when they are show on the advertisement. If the merchandise is silk stockings or pure lipstick, they will be portrayed as beautiful women. They may be dressed in a short skirt and wear long hairs. Also, their age may be young. And then they can show their sexy.

However, on the news reporter set, they are dignified. They will dressed in a suit and their age may not too young. It is in order to express their profession.

In many culture, women were portrayed as a thin and beautiful women. Men were portrayed as a strong men and gentlemen. It is also gender stereotyping!

Question2: About Sexual Stereotyping

  • Question2: About Sexual Stereotyping

Why are their more women in language oriented classes but far fewer in math or science? Why are their far more women secretaries but so few women doctors or engineers? Why are flight attendants all female ? What can be done to solve this problem?

  • Answer:
In our society, many female serves as the secretaries, flight attendants or the department store attendants. The reason is due to sexual stereotyping.

Gender stereotyping occurs in many areas, even in schools. Girl were expected to study literature, arts or music, not manages an engineering course, math or science. Also, many people consider that a woman are tender and careful. The major reason for it is stereotyping. However, the social expectations influences their views. Parents may influences their children, and teachers may influences their students.

However, how can we solve this problem. In my opinion, we have to give up our prejudice! Men and women are equally to be treated.

Question1: About Human Rights

  • Question1: About Human Rights
How do you think this situation came about? Are their historical reasons this has happened? Are their cultural reasons? Other reasons? What can be done to fix this problem? (keep in mind that it is often difficult to prove that you are being underpaid).
  • Answer:

In greatly part of culture, the female has been a flock despised. In addition to outside few matriarchal societies, greatly part of powers are all concentrated in the male body.In some culture, the female has no status, position and right more.

In many prehistoric cultures, women assumed a particular cultural role. In hunter-gatherer societies, women were generally the gatherers of plant foods, small animal foods, fish, and learned to use dairy products, while men hunted meat from large animals.

In more recent history, the gender roles of women have changed greatly. Traditionally, middle-class women were typically involved in domestic tasks emphasizing child care, and did not enter paid employment. For poorer women, especially working class women, this often remained an ideal, specify as economic necessity compelled them to seek employment outside the home. The occupations that were available to them were, however, lower in prestige and pay than those available to men.

ISSUE: a report about the stronger steels

Today I read a report about the stronger steels. According to this report, the development and manufacture of stronger steels enable auto makers to produce lighter cars that consume less fuel and emit volumes of harmful gases. I like this development.

My father has a car. He told me the maintenance cost of a car is higher than its original cost. The fuel cost plays a important role of a car’s life cost. If a car can consume less fuel, it would be a very good thing.

ISSUE: about a report that a student’s cell phone was withheld by his teacher in a high school

Today I read a report that a student’s cell phone was withheld by his teacher in a high school. He sends too many messages to his friend in class. The teacher decided to withhold his cell phone to punish him.

I argue that students’ private possessions cannot be withheld to punish personal misconduct. If his parents want to give him a phone call, he could not respond immediately. Maybe his parents worry about his safety. Therefore, I think the other punishment, such as cleaning campus, is better option.

I am moved by her great story. She gave light to many of handicapped people of the world. I hope the world will have more people like Helen Keller.

ISSUE: about a novel written by an ex-East German journalist

Today I borrowed a novel written by an ex-East German journalist.

The current political status between Taiwan and China is very similar to Germany or Vietnam in the 1950’s; countries bearing the same name exist at the same time. As opposed to East Germany, Taiwan has always been trying to maintain a fuzzy or unclear policy. The Democratic Progressive Party may propose Taiwan Independence, but still stick by using the name of “Republic of China” and its political system, and have yet to declare ultimate detachment from China.

According to the ROC’s Constitution and various laws, the People’s Republic of China is termed as the “Mainland Area”, meaning it is a part of Republic of China. Apparently, the citizens of the People’s Republic of China is not treated or seen the same as Japanese or American foreigners. It is similar to the policies of two Germanys in past. Bonn and East Berlin also thinks that the current status of counterpart is not “pure” foreign country. Therefore, both are “comfortable” with the status quo.
